Tiggo 9 PHEV Shows Strong 1400+ km Range in Pakistan Highway Test

Over in Pakistan, the Chery Tiggo 9 PHEV has racked up a real-world distance of over 1,400 kilometres in local conditions. It places it amongst the longest-range results we have seen for a plug-in hybrid. So it just goes to show its long-distance prowess on Pakistani roads.

The M2 is where the test was conducted. It did that on a single fuel tank and full battery charge, covering 1,507 kilometres. That is farther than its global range, which is about 1,400 kilometres.

The controlled equivalency test was run over the course of four days. It had a few Lahore–Islamabad round-trip tickets done. Of that distance, 205 kilometres were completed in pure electric mode, 35 km more than the claimed 170 km. The other 1,302 kilometres were done in hybrid operation. This drive carried on until the car flashed a low fuel warning.

On a global level, the Tiggo 9 PHEV has shown strong consistency in both lab tests and real-world use. Under WLTC conditions, Chery reports a combined range of over 1,400 kilometres. In an international test in South Africa, conducted with TopGear, the vehicle achieved 1,374 kilometres on a single tank and full charge. This was under mixed driving conditions, including heavy city traffic, which is higher than its official WLTC-rated range of 1,050 kilometres.

Master Auto Engineering, in conjunction with Chery, has made the vehicle available in Pakistan. It has been billed as the first luxury E-SUV PHEV available in Australia. The model falls more into the premium bracket with a price range of PKR 13,694,000 (ex-factory). It also imports the Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) technology here.

The Tiggo 9 PHEV combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 34.46 kWh battery and a dedicated hybrid transmission. It uses a triple-motor setup under the CSH architecture. The system produces up to 610 horsepower and 920 Nm of torque.

The vehicle offers up to 170 kilometres of electric range. Its combined hybrid range crosses 1,400 kilometres under standard conditions. The latest Pakistan test result of over 1,500 kilometres strengthens its position as a long-range hybrid SUV. It also shows its suitability for intercity travel in Pakistan.

The SUV includes Level 2 ADAS, 10 airbags, and automated parking assist. It also offers multiple drive modes and intelligent energy management systems. Inside, it features:

  • Front-row massage seats
  • Heated and ventilated seating
  • A 14-speaker Sony sound system
  • Ambient lighting
  • A 15.6-inch display.

Experts have said that such results make a case for the place of plug-in hybrids in markets like Pakistan. Hybrid systems are simply more practical with long travel distances and less EV charging infrastructure. The mix of electric driving and extended range is shaping buyer interest. Real-world results like this are expected to influence future buying decisions.
