OpenAI Secures $122 Billion to Power the Future of Artificial Intelligence

OpenAI has raised $122 billion worth of recent funding, with its valuation reaching $852 billion. That leaves the company racing to stake itself as an underpinning for AI infrastructure employed by both

  • Businesses
  • Everyday users.

ChatGPT is a key driver of that growth. It hit 10 million and 100 million users sooner than any previous platform and is now nearing 1 billion weekly users. Revenue has climbed just as quickly. It crossed $1 billion within a year of launch, hit $1 billion per quarter by the end of 2024, and now stands at about $2 billion per month.

Large partners backed this round, including Amazon, NVIDIA, SoftBank, and Microsoft, along with several global investment firms. OpenAI also opened the door to individual investors and expanded its $4.7 billion credit line to support future spending.

Product updates continue to roll out. GPT-5.4 improves reasoning and workflow tasks, while Codex is now used by more than 2 million users weekly. ChatGPT alone has over 900 million weekly users and more than 50 million subscribers.

Infrastructure sits at the center of this push. OpenAI now works with multiple cloud platforms, chipmakers, and data centre partners to meet rising demand.

The goal is to bring everything into one unified system, where users can search, build, and complete tasks without switching tools.
