Meta Unveils New Ray-Ban Smart Glasses for Prescription Users

Meta has unveiled a pair of new Ray-Ban smart glasses designed specifically for prescription lens wearers, as the company looks to make its wearable technology more viable for day-to-day use. 

Though earlier versions were already available with prescription lenses. The company claims these new models have better support for more prescriptions. These models will be comfortable enough to wear all day.

The glasses will start at $499 and are set to arrive on April 14 through optical retailers in the U.S. and selected global markets. They come in two styles: Blayzer, which has a more rectangular design and comes in multiple sizes, and Scriber, a softer, more rounded frame.

This time, the emphasis is on comfort. According to Meta, the new designs feature flexible hinges and adjustable nose pads with customizable temple tips, enabling opticians to adjust fit according to face shape

In what is also a refresh of their family of frames, Meta has added new frame colors and lens options to both collections

On the software side, the company is working on more AI-powered features. A notable feature is nutrition tracking, allowing users to snap a meal with voice commands or take a quick picture so that Meta AI automatically fills in details and builds a food log over time.

There are also updates to messaging. Users can request WhatsApp summaries hands-free or recall specific details from chats. Plus, a new neural handwriting feature will soon let users write messages with their finger on any surface, offering a more discreet way to reply.
