Electricity Bills Set to Rise Sharply in February as New Tariff Costs Kick In

Electricity consumers across Pakistan are facing a significant increase in power bills for February, with fuel cost adjustments adding roughly Rs 1.41 per unit to bills compared to January. The rise comes as fuel charges climb and demand for electricity increases, especially with limited hydropower and thermal generation capacities. Energy officials say they are working on an incentive tariff package to ease the impact and encourage daytime consumption, which may be submitted for regulatory approval soon.
